The Eagles
Getting ready to cruise in the family car, there was always one essential piece of music that had to be there-music from The Eagles. There is something about their music that simply proclaims road music. I have spent thousands of hours listening to the driving guitar strains of Life in the Fast Lane, the blended harmonies of Witchy Woman, and the caressing notes of Take It Easy.
But the original version of Hotel California defines the Eagles for me. The searing guitar solos that are played in unison and harmonized throughout the tune anchor this magnificent composition. In the middle of the main solo that takes the listener through the end of the tune, a note is bent upward and then slowly released, being picked throughout as a rapid staccato. The effect is devastating and is the indelible requiebros for me.
